34. Yuri Wiedenhofer - Disc Composition in Three Parts

Yuri Wiedenhofer is an acclaimed Australian master ceramicist and sculptor based in Tanja, New South Wales.

After training at the Canberra School of Art from 1980 to 1982 under legendary mentors Alan Peascod and Alan Watt, he dedicated his career to the unpredictable art of atmospheric wood firing. In 1993, Wiedenhofer established his coastal studio, constructing custom anagama kilns. His distinctive, site-specific practice incorporates local, raw materials like found earth, plant ash, and crushed glass. 

Over a forty-year career, he has earned international recognition, including the 2015 ANU Sculpture Residency Prize, for his large-scale installations and cross-cultural artistic collaborations.
