31. Veronica Taylor - Brindabella Snows

Veronica Taylor is a Kamberri/Canberra-based ceramic artist. Her work draws on her local landscape: the gentle silhouettes of the Brindabella ranges, the night sky over Canberra, and the Lake Burley Griffin shoreline.

Veronica loves wood firing - the raw and very physical collaboration with local environment and weather. Her textured surfaces recall the marks left by human hands and tools on the local landscape. 
Veronica’s artistic journey includes decades of practising Japanese Tea and being designated a Tea Master in the Urasenke tradition.  He Tea practice influences my work as a potter. She focusses on the feeling a vessel creates when it moves from her hand to the hands of the person receiving it.  Her work continually explores vessels that can hold flowers. The flower, the foliage and the vessel together make a living artwork: it is completed in the moment that ‘the flower chooses the vase’.
