Ted Secombe is a highly respected Australian ceramic artist with more than forty years of experience working in clay. Renowned for his elegant wheel-thrown vessels and internationally acclaimed crystalline glazes, Secombe has dedicated his career to pushing the boundaries of ceramic practice through continual experimentation and refinement.

Originally establishing his studio in Toowoomba, Queensland, in 1979, Secombe relocated to Victoria’s Yarra Valley in 1989, where he continues to live and work. His practice is inspired by the natural world, particularly the forms, colours and rhythms found in plants, gardens and the changing seasons. These influences are reflected in his refined forms, rich colour palettes and distinctive surface treatments.

Secombe is recognised as one of Australia’s leading practitioners of crystalline glazing, a highly specialised and technically demanding ceramic process requiring precise control of materials, temperatures and firing schedules. His work is celebrated for its luminous colour, intricate crystalline patterns and exceptional craftsmanship. His ceramics have been exhibited extensively throughout Australia and internationally, including exhibitions in Japan, the Netherlands and India.
